PHYSICAL THERAPY
We use evidence based practice involving up to date techniques to treat a wide range of diagnoses, as determined by your physician. When you first visit John West Physical Therapy, our licensed physical therapists will review your prescription and undertake a complete evaluation and examination of your condition. The therapist will then develop a plan of care specifically tailored to your needs, and apply the necessary techniques to assist your recovery. At every stage of the treatment process, the therapist will remain in touch with your doctor through regular feedback reports.
CORRECTIVE EXERCISES
These exercises are tailor made for each patient to address their specific problems, and can involve muscle strengthening, balance, and core stability, as well as aerobic training.
MANUAL TECHNIQUES
When necessary, we rely on traditional treatment modalities such as soft tissue manipulation, use of hot and cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and thermal probes that use heat and ultra-sound.
SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT
We carry state of the art equipment such as the Alter G which is an anti-gravity treadmill that uses NASA technology to help patients with load bearing issues to improve their biomechanics and balance.
RESISTANCE TRAINING
We have a range of equipment that helps patients regain their strength through resistance training, such as leg presses, core sticks, cable columns, various weight machines, as well as free weights.
AQUATIC THERAPY
We have three heated pools at our clinic to assist the varying needs of our patients, where we render supervised therapy for multiple joint pains, spinal decompression for patients with radicular symptoms improving their range of motion and strength.
PERSONAL TRAINING
This is a one-on-one training program for our patients who have received therapy at the clinic, where our in-house physical trainers work with patients who have recovered from their injuries, but still wish to strengthen themselves so that they can get back to regular exercising. Personal training is offered both in the land exercise area, as well as the pools.
WELLNESS PROGRAM
There are occasions when patients’ treatment plan is completed, however they feel that they would benefit from continuing the exercises in their plan. In such circumstances we offer enrollment in our Wellness Program where the patients can use the clinic equipment and the pools on their own. Our therapists and assistants would be able to provide limited assistance.
